Why shared mail
The reach of a mailbox campaign, without paying for the whole mailing.
Sending your own oversized postcard to thousands of homes means paying for the entire print run, the postage and the design. On The Local Spotlight, a small group of non-competing local businesses split those costs — you pay for your space, and your ad still lands in every mailbox on the card's routes.
- A physical card in the hand — not another ad in a crowded feed
- Oversized 9×12 format with room for a real offer
- Focused on the homes in your own service area
- One simple, one-time price. No contract, nothing renews
A standard space works out to about

The real thing
Built to stand out in the mailbox.
A 9×12 card is hard to miss next to the letters, bills and flyers Wauconda homes get — and it's one card, not a pack of coupons to flip through.
- 9×12 in — nearly three times the area of a standard business envelope
- Full color on both sides
- Every ad is a real, readable size

The referral effect
Illustration only: the same sales math if each new customer from the card brought in just one referral (counted once, never a chain). Referrals aren't guaranteed.
| Scenario | Relative size | Sales | Compared with the ad |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 customer + 1 referral | $500 | 0.8x the ad | |
| 2 customers + 2 referrals | $1,000 | 1.5x the ad | |
| 3 customers + 3 referrals | $1,500 | 2.3x the ad | |
| 5 customers + 5 referrals | $2,500 | 3.8x the ad |
Illustrative math, not a promise of results. Actual sales, costs, and customer response vary. Home count is a planning estimate until carrier routes are verified.

“Being reserved” means another business is in checkout right now; it reopens if they don't finish. Don't see your category, or offer several services? Apply anyway and Mike will review it — no payment is taken until it's approved.

In plain terms: your primary category, on this card, for this edition and zone. It doesn't cover every service you offer, other towns, or future editions. The exact wording is shown before you pay. If your category is taken, you can join the waitlist.
Exactly what you get.

Tracking & results
What we can measure — and what we can't.
Printed mail doesn't come with a dashboard of who read it. Here's honestly what you'll know:
Mailing proof
You get a mailing report with the final card, the routes, the piece count and the date it was handed to USPS. Postal acceptance shows it was mailed — not that every home read it.
Optional tracking link
We can set up a short Local Customer Boost link (and QR code, if you approve it in your ad) that counts visits. Visits show interest; they aren’t the same as customers.
Your own QR code or offer code
If your ad uses your own QR code, phone number or offer code, those responses go straight to you — the best way to count results is to ask new customers how they heard about you.
No promised response
We guarantee the card is printed and mailed as described. We don’t promise calls, customers or sales.
Your ad
Two easy ways to get your ad on the card.
Upload my finished ad — included
A complete, ready-to-print ad at your space size: business name, offer, contact details and images. (A logo or photo on its own isn't a finished ad — choose design instead.)
- PDF with fonts embedded, or high-res PNG/JPEG
- Instant file check and an exact preview in your space
- Never stretched, cropped or changed
Design my ad for me — add $50
Mike designs one ad for this edition from your logo, photos, headline, offer and contact details. You review a proof and approve it — up to two rounds of changes included.
- Designed by a person, sized for your space
- Charged separately from your space
- Allow a few business days for the first proof

Questions
Straight answers.
How many homes get the card?
Approximately 5,000 planned Wauconda-area homes; final routes and count pending verification. We mail to whole USPS carrier routes; once routes are verified, the exact residential count is shown here and in your order.
When will it arrive?
Estimated mailing: Late November – early December 2026 (exact date depends on how fast the card fills). USPS controls delivery timing after that, so we don’t promise an exact arrival date.
Will my ad be on the front?
Spaces are on both sides and are assigned by our layout rules. A specific side or position is only promised when it is sold that way and shown in your order.
What results can I expect?
We guarantee the card is printed and mailed as described. Calls, customers and sales depend on your offer and timing, so we don’t promise them. If you use a tracking link we share visit counts — visits aren’t the same as customers.
What if the card doesn’t get mailed?
If the edition you paid for isn’t mailed, you choose: a full refund, or a full credit toward a future edition.
What file do I need?
A complete, finished ad at your space size: a PDF with fonts embedded, or a high-resolution PNG/JPEG. The ad guide shows exact pixel sizes and has downloadable templates.
Can I change my ad after approving it?
Yes, until the proof deadline: upload a new version and approve it again. The new approval replaces the old one.
Can I use my own QR code?
Yes. We print your ad exactly as approved; scans of your own QR code go to you, so we may not be able to report on them.
Is this a subscription?
No. Each booking covers one edition (or a clearly stated multi-mailing package). Nothing renews automatically.
